Our wedding: St.Lucia & Barbados
It all started when Paul proposed to me April 27th, 2016 while we were Kayaking up Indian Arm. We stopped to rest in the bay surrounding Jug Island when Paul pulled out a pelican case, opened it with a beautiful ring inside and proposed to me on the ocean!
Fast forward to February 16th, when we were off to Barbados to start our wedding adventure! Paul, myself, Kole (my step-son), Erin (sister) Dave (Bro in law) Lana (BF) and Kevin (BF hubby) all started off the adventure together in Barbados! 5 of us started in a beautiful, quaint little house (Flip Key) just a 5 minute walk to the local beach! The beaches were beautiful white sand (coral) with the pristine turquoise water, just like we saw online! We did several tours on the water snorkelling and swimming with the turtles as well as checking out some wrecks that lie close to the surface! We found the variety of food to be fairly limited. There was not a lot of fresh fruit at the local markets and most of the local food is deep fried. We went to the local fish fry which was great and really authentic. The cost of food was similar to CDN/USA, but of course the exchange is 1XE to 0.50 USD. Transportation was super easy. You could take the local bus from one end of the island to the other for $1XE! We rode the gangster rap bus (of course)- not that you have a choice, which was a fun experience. Overall we felt safe walking around and utilizing transportation in Barbados. Our bag did get stolen off the beach- but we did leave it unattended.
Next up was a quick flight over to St. Lucia! I don't have enough incredible things to say about St.Lucia! It is stunning! We stayed at the St.James's club, https://www.morganbayresort.com, which is where we had our wedding.
Friends and family came together at this venue to celebrate our wedding! We got to do a lot of adventures together including horse back riding down the beach, scuba diving (Absolutely beautiful) including a great wreck dive, lots of snorkelling and hiking the famous pitons!
Our wedding day was spectacular! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day and evening! Prep was perfect, the wedding was perfect, photos were perfect, dinner, you name it! I truly got to relax throughout the entire process thanks to Pamela, the wedding coordinator at the St. James club. She was amazing! I walked down the aisle to Rianna's 'Love on the Brain' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RyInjfgNc4&list=RD0RyInjfgNc4
Our wedding was 'Wicked Game', check out Daughtry here: song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V9YdG91Qag&list=RD7V9YdG91Qag
The original song was one that we listened to many times driving together when we were dating.
Following our incredible wedding, the 3 of us (Paul, Kole and myself) made our way to the southern end of the island, heading to see the famous Pitons! We stayed at an incredible, quaint resort called La Haut resort. This adorable resort couldn't be a better fit for us. We loved all of it! We wish we could buy it now that it's for sale! http://caribbeanmlslistings.com/RealEstate/la-haut-hotel-for-sale-in-st-lucia-listing-253.aspx
